The work-based qualification for kitchen, bathroom and bedroom fitters. It recognises the installation work you already do, assessed remotely or on site with no exams and no classroom, and opens your route to the Blue CSCS card.

If you install fitted kitchens, bathrooms or bedrooms - floor and wall units, worktops with cut-outs for appliances, encased services, bonded laminates, scribed and mitred mouldings and corners, peninsular and island arrangements - to a contractor's working instructions, this qualification turns the work you do every day into a nationally recognised NVQ.

GQA Level 2 NVQ Certificate, qualification number 610/0014/7. Typical completion is 4-8 weeks, working with your assessor and work-based recorder for evidence gathering, observations and professional discussions.

Site visits are part of the NVQ process. They are carried out remotely or on site, and we decide which with you at your NVQ induction online meeting, around your site and your schedule.

Your evidence comes from installations you're already doing. Don't collect anything yet - your assessor plans it with you at onboarding. It will look like this:

  • Photos of you installing floor and wall units - before, during and after
  • Worktops fixed, with cut-outs formed for appliances
  • Encasing services, bonding laminates, scribing and mitring mouldings and corners
  • Peninsular or island unit arrangements, where you build them
  • Videos of 3-5 minutes of you carrying out work tasks in which you explain what you are working on and how you are doing it - a workmate can film on a phone
  • Job sheets, working instructions, site documents with your name, plus a witness statement from your supervisor (we provide the template)

Add the CSCS Card to your NVQ - the complete journey, if you need it!

Your NVQ is the qualification. The card is how you show it at the gate. Add our Testing & Card option to your NVQ and we take care of the whole journey:

  • Your Health & Safety test - GQA test at our approved centre, or the CITB HS&E test (London and surrounding areas) - testing and admin fees covered

Cards are issued by the relevant card scheme on successful completion of your qualification and a valid Health & Safety test pass. HPL Centre is a GQA Qualifications Approved Centre (00467) and CITB Approved Internet Test Centre - we administer your application on your behalf. Verify any card with the CSCS Smart Check app.
