To be considered a competent steel fixer, you require minimum supervision in carrying out your day-to-day jobs on site.
We know that not all steel fixers are involved in the same activities and there are different ways in which you can be assessed to prove your competency. This is why you will be allowed to choose a personalised route to complete and meet the criteria for the NVQ Level 2 Diploma.
Together with your assessor, you will decide on the easiest way of proving your work competency in carrying out cutting, bending, fixing and prefabricating reinforcement steel to at least 2 of the following concrete structures: beams, bases, columns, slabs, staircases or walls.
We will also check via simple tasks your knowledge and competence in working at heights, in the purpose and usage of drawings, fixings, power and hand tools to carry out the work at height, below ground level and in confined spaces.
